Cat Beardsley Photography at Fayre- 001

Happy New Year, dear brides and grooms!

We hope you have all had a well-deserved end of year break and spent lots of quality time with your friends and family, enjoyed a glass (or two!) of mulled wine and mince pies, while looking back over what’s been good in 2016 and making new plans for 2017. We certainly have, here at Cat Beardsley Photography and we are looking forward to our 2017 weddings and projects!

Winter is the season when nature takes its rest, it stands still for a little while, building up energy for the year to come. After autumn has shed its leaves, leaving behind all that needed to go, winter brings with it the peace needed so much for the recovery; springtime will need a lot of energy to get the ball rolling again! We are very much part of nature, we can influence it and it can influence us, we’re all one in the end. We can follow the same seasonal cycle if we feel it would be beneficial to us: start slowing down in autumn, finishing off our projects, then using winter to take a look back at what we have achieved, taking plenty of rest, and setting our intentions for what is to come. I really love winter for this purpose (well, on top of the superb quality of light for photography that comes with it)!

If you have recently decided to get married, you could use this winter time to attend a couple of your local wedding fayres and get inspired; find out what photographers, florists, makeup artists, etc have got to offer, browse their portfolios and see what exactly ticks the boxes in Your Heart. No need to be overwhelmed with the choice, not everything is a “must” for a wedding day, you will find out soon enough what matters more to you and you would really, really like to have on your wedding day.

If you are looking for a wedding photographer, have followed us for a while or just landed on this page, please have a look at our Portfolio and if you like what you see, I encourage you to attend one of these wedding fayres and come to say “Hi!”. Come and tell me more about your day, the way you see it.

For 2017 we have decided to exhibit at quite a few Herefordshire wedding fayres, one Gloucestershire wedding fayre and one Worcestershire wedding fayre, as below:

We hope to see you there! Please do not hesitate to send this to a friend that you know is looking for a wedding photographer this spring.

Belmont Abbey Hereford Wedding_0001

What a wonderful wedding Prita and Beshar had at Lyde Court in Hereford! They chose one of our favourite wedding venues in Herefordshire, which they decorated in a tasteful and clean style, complementing Lyde Court’s converted barn features and adding to its cosyness and relaxed feeling. The groom’s mother helped with the styling and brought in elements of both the Iranian and Indian cultures that the couple belonged to and Issy & Bella‘s flowers made it all look very pretty and lit up the barn in their lovely light colours. Issy & Bella impressed us yet again with her innovative ideas (see the massive “vases” by the top table) and her talent to create floral arrangements that not only match the theme but suit the venue as well.

Jane and Richie Herefordshire Wedding_0030

Being a Herefordshire wedding photographer means photographing ceremonies in some of the most amazing venues – we photographed plenty of weddings in Hereford but this was our first one at St Nicholas Church, in the city of Hereford. Built in 1841 about 200 yards west of an earlier site, this Anglican church is stunning on the outside and very spacious but still intimate inside. The Prebendary Rob North was a real pleasure to work with as he allowed us to move around a little bit and take photos from a few different angles – this is a joy for wedding photographers as it makes a massive difference to the end result, the bride and groom’s wedding photographs.

Ukrainian Wedding in UK - 042

It is unusual for a Hereford wedding photographer to get the chance to photograph a Ukrainian wedding here in the UK,  but on the 1st August this year we were grateful to have this opportunity. Both Rich and I love discovering new cultures and their traditions so it was a real joy to have the opportunity to photograph an ethnic wedding here so close to us. We respect every couple’s choice of faith and belief be they humanist, pagan, christian or other and it will always be a privilege to photograph their wedding day as it is, truly representing the couple.

Shirehall Hereford Wedding_0083

We recently photographed Toni and Peter’s wedding at the Shirehall in Hereford and discovered that it was an ideal venue for brides and grooms that would like to give their wedding a personal touch. From a Hereford wedding photographer’s point of view it was a great venue in which to hold a wedding reception. There was plenty of natural light beaming in from the large windows and an abundance of space. At the far end is a large stage which also lent us a strategic vantage point from which to take some candid shots of the first dance .
