Last year I photographed a romantic summer wedding at Lyde Court for an absolutely wonderful couple: Máté & Molly. They are professional dancers and I was so excited to be there for them on their wedding day! The moment I was very much looking forward to was the first dance. I am someone who loves to dance very much, especially with a partner, you can imagine my eagerness to photograph theirs. Of course everyone very much anticipated their first dance will be amazing to watch and what we witnessed was beyond our wildest dreams. I have never seen anything more graceful, beautiful and technically challenging at the same time!
But what most stuck with me was to witness the connection that Máté & Molly had with each other. Sheer joy and love is what was written all over their faces everytime they were around each other. I strived to capture this as often on the day as I could, I truly am a hopeless romantic. I will let Molly & Máté tell you a bit more about the details & thoughts that went into the planning of their day, for you to get inspired!

WEDDING STYLE
“When it came to selecting a venue for our wedding, living abroad posed a unique challenge as we had limited time to explore options in the UK. We approached the task by conducting thorough online research, which helped us narrow down our choices. Interestingly, we didn’t have a clear, ‘picture-perfect’ vision of what we wanted. Instead, we opted to visit venues that offered contrasting styles.
Over the course of three days, we visited six different venues, and each visit was an adventure in itself. We found that imagining ourselves along with our family and friends, celebrating in those spaces was incredibly valuable. It allowed us to decide whether a venue truly resonated with us and what we wanted on the day.
As soon as we stepped into the barn at Lyde Court, we were filled with excitement. Without exchanging a word, we both knew it was where we wanted to exchange our vows. The atmosphere was relaxed yet vibrant, and we could envision us and our guests having so much fun there!
Ultimately, I think choosing a venue isn’t just about its physical attributes; it’s about capturing a feeling. For us, Lyde Court embodied the essence of what we wanted our wedding to be – joyful, relaxed, and filled with lots of love!”

THE DRESS
“My journey to finding the perfect wedding dress was quite the adventure, thanks to my indecisive nature! however also a super fun experience. If I were to offer advice to future brides, it would be this: while Pinterest boards can be incredibly helpful for gathering inspiration, don’t let them dictate your expectations too rigidly. Personally, I spent ages searching for a dress that I had admired online for years, only to discover that it didn’t suit me at all and was my least favourite of all when I tried it on.
Instead, I would encourage brides-to-be to embrace the dress shopping experience wholeheartedly. Try on as many dresses as you can and have fun doing it with your loved ones. Personally, I didn’t have that magical ‘this is the dress’ moment that so many people talk about. Instead, I gathered ideas along the way, figuring out which styles suited me best.
In the end, my decision was based on a culmination of features from various dresses I had tried on. It wasn’t about finding the one perfect dress but rather about finding the one that encompassed the elements I loved the most.
My overall advice would be to enjoy the process, trust your instincts and choose the dress that makes you feel like the best version of yourself.”

DECOR
“We were really lucky to have a venue that was already full of character and natural charm! we kept the decor fairly simple in line with the barn style feel. For a colour theme we stuck to neutral, eucalyptus colours and hints of blue.”

THE PHOTOGRAPHY
“Photography definitely holds a big importance to me. While I’ve always cherished ‘living in the moment’, there’s something amazing about the ability of a photograph to take you back to a specific time and place and allow you to relive the emotions and memories captured within it.”
ADVICE FOR COUPLES LOOKING TO CHOOSE THEIR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
“Personally I feel it’s important to establish a strong connection with your photographer. Since you’ll be spending a significant portion of your wedding day together, it’s essential that you feel comfortable and at ease with them. Look for someone whose energy aligns with yours and who you feel a genuine connection with. A photographer who understands your vision and complements your style will not only capture beautiful images but also enhance your overall experience on the day.”

I really coudn’t be happier with the emotion & story that the photos tell for Máté & Molly’s wedding! It was a romantic summer wedding at Lyde Court that will not be forgotten. In moments like these I feel truly grateful to be a wedding photographer and to be chosen by couples like these two beautiful people. Their families were equally as charming, warm and welcoming. A true honor and blessing to have met them.
