“Laughter, dragon, magic” are the three words that Alexander and Genevieve used to describe their wedding day. They got married on a beautiful June day at Birtsmorton Court, a Grade I listed fortified medieval moated manor house near Malvern, in Worcestershire.
“Birtsmorton was the first and only venue we visited, as we fell in love with it the moment we saw it. It matched perfectly with everything we wanted, rustic but elegant with a beautiful outdoor setting. I had always wanted an outdoor wedding!
As we were going for a Tolkien/Game of Thrones subtle theme we wanted lots of natural colours and decor. Moss and Ivy made up the centre pieces and the decorations with my bouquet containing twisted willow and lots of greenery. We had confetti made from book pages decorating the tables. We very much wanted the homely feel of Hobbiton to be brought to our tables.”
They brought character to their wedding by following their likes and passions and they encourage couples to do the same:
- Don’t let anyone else interfere, it’s your day – let it be about your personalities!
- Even if it doesn’t look like it will work, it doesn’t matter! People will appreciate you being different and brave!
- Have no regrets; if you want it – have it!
If they were able to do things differently: “we would have the ceremony filmed and we wouldn’t have hired a band for the height of summer… no one wanted to be indoors!
The couple booked both me and Rich to photograph their wedding as they both wanted to have photographic memories of their mornings, getting ready, and also two different points of view during the day’s photos. “The day is a massive blur and if it wasn’t for our exquisite photos there would be so many moments we wouldn’t remember. We also got to see moments we didn’t even know were happening. We got to see the day that other people experienced that we gave them, we saw it from a guest’s perspective thanks to Cats photos!
We spoke with several photographers before choosing Cat. We chose Cat not just because of her beautiful portfolio but because we got on with her straight away. This is so important! You will spend all day having someone capture the most special and vulnerable moments with you, you need to be comfortable with that person and feel at ease. Cat most certainly did this for us and her and Rich’s photos are absolutely stunning as a result! They were so dedicated and professional and their attention to detail filled us with confidence that we could get a beautiful set of photos at the end.“
