Today I would like to post a few photos I took at Ben & Julia’s beautiful half day wedding photography at Lower House Farm. Sometimes I get asked if, as a wedding photographer, I offer half day wedding coverage at all. The answer is I absolutely do! I have an hourly package that is usually very popular for mid week weddings. This would be reason number 1 for clients to book it. Reason number 2 is very much why Ben and Julia chose to book it. They value having photos of the core part of a wedding day: from ceremony until sitting down for food.
What importance does photography hold for you?
“We love photos, we take joy in having a physical photo album and enjoy film photography. Getting it done properly with someone who knows how to use a camera, compose a shot and work with people is important and a real skill.”
What would be your advice for couples when choosing their photographer?
“Know what you want. We wanted photos that captured moments. The beauty of a single captured moment to us is special. I would also make sure you like your photographer – they will be there on one of the most important days of your lives. Cat was great and everyone loved her!”
A few words to describe the style of your wedding
“Our aim was for our wedding to be relaxed and fun, but for it to be personal to us and a little bit different!”
When planning your wedding, how did you go about choosing a venue that would fit your style?
“We knew we didn’t want what we saw as a run of the mill wedding. Being outdoors in a beautiful setting, excellent food and the freedom to put our own stamp on the day were what we prioritised. When we then visited Lower House Farm, the welcoming, helpful and highly organised staff really sold it to us.”
Tell me about your decor & colour theme
“Our colour theme was spring time pastel colours. We tried to make, borrow or source a lot of our decor as second hand – think british spring flowers in second hand medicine bottles with handmade napkins and bunting. We wanted simple, elegant and understated decor – but with a personal touch.”
Choosing your wedding dress & suit: tell us about your journey and any advice for future brides & grooms would be most welcome!
“For the wedding dress: lots of online research, then a visit to a local independent dress shop. Make an afternoon of it and get the bride team together. It was so much fun and a good excuse to start getting really excited. Be prepared for a fair few visits and make sure its comfortable to wear all day. For the groom’s suit: research online and then go visit and try on some suits. I went to a small family run business and the quality and service was exceptional and better value than some of the UK wide brands. Take the bride to be with you…”
